Pastor Matt Young began serving Palm Sunday, April 5. Young, 27, is a native of Boone County Kentucky having lived in Hebron most of his life, graduating from Conner High School in 1988. Before entering Trinity Lutheran Seminary Columbus, Ohio, Pastor Young graduated from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio with a B.A. in history and education.

During the seminary he has served Linden Lutheran Church, Columbus Ohio and Community of Hope Lutheran Church, Tucson, Arizona as well as spending clinical time as chaplain at The children's Hospital in Columbus. In 1994, Pastor Young was commissioned to the United States Navy Chaplancy Corps where he remains a junior grade lieutenant. He has served on active duty at Naval Training Stations San Diego, Marine Corps Recruiting Depot San Diego,Naval Training Station Newport, Rhode Island and Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia.

Before and during seminary, Young worked as a police dispatcher for nearly ten years in Boone County. In his spare time, he enjoys officiating high school sports namely football where he worked in the State High School Playoffs the last six seasons.
