At Homecoming on Sunday, September 17 we honored those who are long-standing members of forty years or more. There were some we missed and we wish to include the up-to-date list at this time. We thank the Lord for the dedication of the following people:
THE ESTHER CIRCLE will meet on Thursday, October 12 in the home of Jean Harman Kovac, 693 Buttercup, at 7:00 p.m. Pat Kerth delivered the 100 bars of soap, 50 washcloths, 50 tie-ons and $50.00 for the Womens Council Christmas project.
Wendy, there is clipart for this. Original size is 1.25" x 1.25" (approximately). Sherry would like this to run in the October AND November Tidings:
On Sunday, November 12th from 9:30 12:30, St. Johns will host a Community Blood Center blood drive. The screening and donation will take place here at church so donors will be able to participate either before or after church services that Sunday.
The need for blood affects us all. Statistics show that 9 out of 10 of us will need blood some time in our lives. Blood is in constant demand for surgeries, accident and cancer victims, premature babies and those needing organ transplants just to name a few. Blood donors save lives several of them in fact. Each unit of blood donated can be separated into different components and used to help up to three people.
To donate blood you must be at least 17 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 lbs. During the screening process you will receive a mini-physical. You will learn your blood group and rH type. All types are needed. After donation you will be treated to juice and cookies.
This is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to help others. To make this drive a success we need your help. We need a minimum of 25 people to commit to donate. A sign-up sheet is in the entrance hall. Participants are eligible to donate once every 8 weeks. If we have positive results, we will continue to host drives every other month.
If you have questions about donating, you can call the Community Blood Center at 461-4248 ext. 3089. If you have questions about our blood drive, you can call Melissa Ward or Sherry Spehr.
This is from Margaret: Ill put the text of it here & also fax the copy I have so you can see what fonts, sizes, layout, etc it has. Ive also retyped the text that is on the back of this half-sheet.

Peder Eide has a powerful message to share with people of all ages, especially the youth of our land. It is a message of hope and victory. Having lost his mother in an automobile accident just prior to his freshman year in high school, Peder turned to his family for his spiritual guidance. Through the many struggles in his life, Peder was led to the love of Christ, discovering the grace of God to be the only sustaining power upon which he could rely.
Peder has been involved with groups such as ELCA Youth Ministry Network, Navigators, Youth for Christ, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Tentmakers Youth Ministry, Youth Encounter, Student Venture, and a variety of denominational events. He has also shared the stage with artists such as The Newsboys, Rebecca St. James, Lost and Found, Mark Lowery, and Audio Adrenaline, and with speakers such as Tony Campolo, Bob Lenz, Miles McPhearson, Rollie Martinson, and many more.
This past January, Peder appeared at the Cincinnati Youth Quake, sponsored by Youth Encounter. He has an exciting presence on stage, and an even more powerful message to share with his audiences. Dont miss his only other Ohio appearance for 2000 on October 7, 7:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 155 E. Thruston Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45419. For directions, check out the church web site at www.oursaviordayton.org, or call 937.293.1147. The cost of a $5 ticket may well change a life!
